'Imran Khan has quit acting, but there is a better director inside him,' reveals close friend Akshay Oberoi

Imran Khan made a promising debut in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008). While he was hailed as the favourite chocolate boy of Bollywood, Imran had his own share of success and failure. The nephew of Aamir Khan was lauded for his work in films like Delhi Belly but faced backlash for Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and several others. But, in the past five years, Imran is missing in action. It is being said that the actor has now turned to direction. Talking about Imran, his friend, Akshay Oberoi told a leading daily that the Break Ke Baad actor has quit acting.

"My best friend in Bollywood is Imran Khan, who is no longer an actor because he has quit acting. Imran is my closest friend, whom I can get up at 4 am and call. Me and Imran have been with each other for almost 18 years, we studied acting together at Kishore Acting School in Andheri West," Akshay told.

Akshay, who is an actor himself, said that though Imran has quit acting, he is a better director and writer. “See, Imran Khan has left acting at the moment. As far as I know, there is a better writer and director inside Imran, I do not know when he will direct his film himself, I am not going to put any pressure, but as a friend, I think so he will direct his film soon. Also, when Imran directs, I know he will make a wonderful film because his sensibility and understanding of cinema is very high,” he added.

Imran's last film as an actor was Katti Batti co-starring Kangana Ranaut. The film was a box office debacle. As a director, he did a short film titled Mission Mars: Keep Walking India.

Recently, Imran made headlines for his strained relationship with his wife Avantika Malik. Reports suggested that they have parted ways. However, Avantika's mother issued a statement and rubbished the reports.
