Bell Bottom: Akshay Kumar on a mission to rescue 212 Indians on a hijacked fight, actor's 'retro' look unveiled on birthday

Bollywood's ultimate superstar Akshay Kumar turned 53 on Wednesday. The actor, who will be having a working birthday, is busy shooting for his upcoming film Bell Bottom in Scotland. Akshay and his co-stars Huma Qureshi and Lara Dutta started shooting in the month of August after completing their quarantine. Vaani Kapoor, who is paired opposite Akshay jetted off a couple of days ago. On the occasion of the superstar's birthday, the makers of Bell Bottom unveiled his suave retro look from the film on social media. Standing against an aircraft wearing an aviator, Akshay looks dapper in a moustache.

A report in a leading daily mentioned that Bell Bottom revolves around a hijacked flight and Akshay plays the role of a spy who is on a mission to rescue nearly 212 Indians on-board. Confirming it, Jackky Bhagnani, who is producing the film with his father Vashu Bhagnani, sister Deepshikha Deshmukh and Nikkhil Advani, said, "Our film is an espionage thriller revolving around a hijack. We’ll be shooting at multiple real locations across Scotland, including the airport, which is a vintage structure and blends well with the setting of our film."

Reportedly, the team started shooting for Bell Bottom with a 10-day indoor schedule before stepping out. Akshay, Huma, Lara and the producers left Mumbai for Scotland on August 6. Jackky, an actor turned producer, further told the daily that the shoot is special because they are the first ones to kickstart a new film amid the pandemic. "This shoot is special because it’s been a while since we were on a film set. It’s a relief to be back in action. We have a Covid officer on the set all the time and sanitisation, masks, and other SOPs are being followed strictly," he said.

Bell Bottom is directed by Ranjit M. Tewari and is written by Aseem Arrora and Parveez Shaikh. The film is scheduled to release on April 2, 2021.
