Prabhas can play Prabhu Ram to perfection, needs to attain an archer's physique: 'Adipurush' director Om Raut

After mesmerizing the audience with his thrilling directorial debut Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Om Raut is all set to tell of Adipurush in his second directorial. Featuring Prabhas in the lead, the film Adipurush was announced on Tuesday. The magnum opus 3D film will celebrate the victory of good over evil. Talking about his collaboration with Prabhas, Om said he brings in calmness and aggression in equal measures and that is what appealed to him. Confirming that the Bahubali actor will be playing the role of Ram in Adipurush, Om told there ain't anyone apart from him who can do justice to the character.

"I have seen him as the lead in my head, on my computer, in my script — if there is anybody who can play Prabhu Ram to perfection, it is Prabhas. As the biggest star in our country, he adds to the commercial value of the film. But more than that, he has a great combination of calmness and aggression. As the writer and director, that appealed to me," Om told.

Reportedly, Om had discussed Adipurush with Prabhas during the initial months of the lockdown and the actor started preparing for the same. The film is scheduled to go on floors early next year. Speaking about the preparations, Om added that Prabhas needs to attain an archer's physique and will also learn archery. "Prabhas is working on his transformation. He has to attain an archer's physique, which is dramatically different from that of a warrior. We have begun consulting several experts. He will also begin learning archery soon," he added.

Adipurush will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair. It will release in theatres in 2022. Adipurush will be shot in Hindi and Telugu and is said to be dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. Rumours are rife that Saif Ali Khan and Keerthy Suresh are being considered for the role of Raavan and Sita.
