Ayushmann Khurrana to play a cross-functional athlete in Abhishek Kapoor's next; film to go on floors in North India in October

Ayushmann Khurrana has carved a niche for himself in Bollywood. Be it thrillers or telling an important story with a dash of humour, he has done it all. Now, after Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Ayushmann is all set to collaborate with Abhishek Kapoor for his next. Abhishek's last directorial was Kedarnath. Talking about the film with Ayushmann, the director said in a statement that it will be a special collaboration for them. Ensuring that the audience will return to the theatres soon and watch films as a community, Abhishek said the team will deliver the best work. 

"Ayushmann and I are both known for a certain kind of cinema and this film is definitely a special one for both of us. We want audiences to come back to the theatres and watch movies as a community and for that we will spare no effort. We strive to bring our best game for this one," Abhishek told.

Speaking of Ayushmann's role in the yet-to-be-titled film, Abhishek said the actor plays a cross-functional athlete and for the role, he will be going through a physical transformation. "Ayushmann plays a Cross-Functional Athlete in the film and he will have to go through a  physical transformation that he hasn’t done before. Its quite a challenge and he’s very committed to it," Abhishek told. 

Talking about the film, Ayushmann added that it will be a family entertainer. Stating that the project will take the audience on an emotional ride, the actor expressed his excitement to start shooting. "Abhishek has a very distinct voice in cinema today and I’m glad that we finally got the opportunity to collaborate on a project that’s exceedingly close to my heart. This film has all the trappings to take audiences through a ride of emotions and it is a total family entertainer. It is a beautiful, progressive love story that will also touch your hearts. I’m supremely excited about the physical transformation that I will have to undergo. It will present me in an all new avatar. I have never looked like this on screen and I’m looking forward to seeing the reaction of audiences. The process is going to be intense and excruciating for me but I feel all the pain will be worth it," Ayushmann said.

The film featuring Ayushmann in the lead is set in North India and the principal photography will begin in October. The makers are eyeing a 2021 release. The film will release under the banner of Guy In The Sky Pictures.
