Onir says he was taken aback on finding similarities between 'I Am' and Zoya Akhtar's 'Made In Heaven', claims, 'Acknowledgement has never been the strength of this industry'

Zoya Akhtar's and Reema Kagti's web show Made In Heaven was critically as well as commercially successful. The show that premiered on Amazon Prime Video featured Arjun Mathur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sarbh, Shashank Arora and Shivani Raghuvanshi in the lead. While Made In Heaven was loved by all, it seems filmmaker-producer Onir is miffed with the makers. Onir, in his recent tweet, said he was taken aback after noticing a few scenes of Made In Heaven were exactly similar to the ones of his film titled I Am. The filmmaker's tweet came after Nalinii Rathnam, a creative producer and casting director spotted the similarities.

Onir retweeted Nalinii's tweet and wrote, "I was quite taken aback when I saw that so much of that section of I AM was not only there as content but shot exactly in the same way. But acknowledgement has never been the strength of this industry". The scene in discussion features two gay men caught in an intimate moment by a police officer who forces them out of the car and sexually harasses them. Interestingly, both the scenes are picturised on Arjun.

Onir's I Am released in the year 2010. It was an anthology revolving around four people who are interlinked to each other. On the other hand, Made In Heaven is a nine episodes show on Amazon Prime Video. It released in 2019 and the makers are working on its sequel too.
