Music maestro A.R. Rahman, during an interview with a radio channel, revealed the reason behind fewer collaborations in Bollywood as compared to the South. The music composer who weaved magic in the recently premiered Dil Bechara, went on to say that there is groupism in Bollywood and 'a whole gang working against him'. Soon after the statement went viral, Shekhar Kapur came out in support of the music legend and opined that the problem lies behind his win at the Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire in 2008. He won awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song.
Shekhar, in his tweet, stated, "You know what your problem is @arrahman? You went and got #Oscars. An Oscar is the kiss of death in Bollywood. It proves you have more talent than Bollywood can handle." In response to this, A. R. Rahman tweeted saying, "Lost Money comes back, fame comes back, but the wasted prime time of our lives will never come back. Peace! Lets move on. We have greater things to do"

A.R.Rahman, in the interview, spoke about people preventing him from doing good stuff in Bollywood. Stating that if filmmakers make beautiful films, he is always there for them. "People are expecting me to do stuff, but there is another gang of people preventing that from happening. It is fine, because I believe in destiny, and I believe that everything comes from God. So, I am taking my movies and doing my other stuff. But all of you are welcome to come to me. Make beautiful movies, and you are welcome to come to me," he told.
