Shoot of Alia Bhatt's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' to resume in the latter half of July?

After three months of lockdown, Bollywood is gearing up to resume shoot in the next few days. While producers of numerous films are looking out for locations outside Mumbai to complete pending shoot schedules, it seems Sanjay Leela Bhansali is preparing to restart Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi in the city itself. According to a leading daily's report, the makers are planning to retain the set standing in Film City before the lockdown was announced. As per a source close to the development, 30% of the shoot is pending and the team is planning to resume in the latter half of July and wrap it by August end.

"Thirty per cent of the film's shoot remains. A part of the film's set is standing in Film City and will probably be the only venue for the remaining shoot. With work in the post-COVID world moving slowly, the team is looking for a month-long schedule to wrap up the project by August end," the source told.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on a brothel madam from the red light area, Kamathipura in Mumbai. She is said to have changed the face of the region and is one of the most remembered women from the history of Mumbai. Gangubai is believed to have been pushed into prostitution at a very young age and became the most influential pimp, having served several renowned criminals from the city.

Directed and co-produced by Sanjay, the film reportedly features Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi in important roles.
