With Laal Singh Chaddha's delay, Aamir Khan to push forward shoot of 'Vikram Vedha' remake with Saif Ali Khan?

The Coronavirus pandemic and the nationwide lockdown has impacted the shoot of Aamir Khan's and Kareena Kapoor Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha along with several others. The ambitious project directed by Advait Chandan was scheduled to release on Christmas this year but reports suggest that the makers are now eyeing for a December 2021 opening. With nearly 40% shoot remaining, Aamir is said to return to sets only when the situation improves. Due to the sudden change in schedule with the outbreak of the pandemic, Aamir's next film, the Hindi remake of Vikram Vedha with Saif Ali Khan has been pushed forward if the buzz is to be believed. The Tamil film remake was to go on floors in February 2021 but a source close to the development told a leading daily that the superstar will begin work on the thriller only after Laal Singh Chaddha releases.

"Almost 40 percent of Laal Singh Chaddha remains to be shot. Aamir is certain that he will not return to the set until the situation improves. He does not want to risk the safety of the cast and crew at any cost. In all likelihood, he will resume shooting only after October and is eyeing a Christmas 2021 release for the film. He has informed Neeraj Pandey, who is producing Vikram Vedha, that he will begin work on the thriller only after the release of Laal Singh Chaddha," the source told.

The Tamil film Vikram Vedha featured R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. Aamir is said to play the role of Vedha, a gangster while Saif is likely to step in the shoes of Madhavan as Vikram, the righteous cop. The thriller is reportedly based on the tale of Raja Vikramaditya and Betaal and imagines the explorative tale of the grey space between good and evil in a modern-day set-up. The film will mark Aamir's and Saif's reunion after Dil Chahta Hai in 2001.

The yet-to-be-titled film will be directed by Pushkar and Gayathri who also helmed the original. Neeraj Pandey, who is also co-producing it with Y Not Studios and Reliance Entertainment, has written the screenplay.
