Not Christmas 2020, but Aamir Khan's and Kareena Kapoor Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha to release in April 2021?

Aamir Khan's and Kareena Kapoor Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha is one of the highly anticipated films. The official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' Forrest Gump is directed by Advait Chandan and was originally scheduled to release on Christmas this year. However, due to the Coronavirus lockdown, the film might not make it to the theatres on the announced date. While the writer of Laal Singh Chaddha, Atul Kulkarni, during an interview in the past, hinted that the film will likely arrive next year, a source close to the development informed a leading daily that the makers are targeting April 2021 for its release. According to the latest development, the source told that 60% of the shoot is completed and Aamir was planning to unveil the teaser by Diwali.

"The unit was to head to Chandigarh for another round of filming. The shoot was moving like clockwork, and Aamir was hoping to release the first teaser around Diwali. However, the lockdown has put the brakes on his plans. Even if the shoots resume by August or September, it is unlikely that the movie will hit screens by December. It may target April 2021 for release," the source told.

The source also added that Laal Singh Chaddha requires intricate visual effects work as the film will show events like Babri Masjid demolition and Kargil war too. "Besides presenting Aamir as a 20-something who grows older as the narrative progresses, the film will also depict events like the Babri Masjid demolition and the Kargil war. It won't be easy to complete such intricate VFX work in a short time," the source added.

Apart from Laal Singh Chaddha, highly anticipated films like Gangubai Kathiadwadi, Takht, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Dostana 2 and many others are postponed indefinitely.
