Naveen Polishetty, Sushant's Chhichhore co-star, penned a heartbreaking note. He wrote, " Sushant, nahi yaar! Shocked and Heartbroken. I met him on the sets of Chhichhore. By the end of the film he became like a brother to me. He never made me feel like it was my first film. The manner in which we have lost him is extremely shocking. I feel numb at this point and not in a position to talk more . I miss you my brother. I will remember all the beautiful things you stood for. The memories on set , the conversations around science, the sports, the films or just the mad dancing. I can’t think of anything he was not good at . One of the brightest minds I have had the privilege of knowing. I pray you find peace my friend . Will look out for you amongst the stars you greatly admired"

Sonu Sood wrote, "Not fair my brother. I run short of words to describe how I feel today. You were an achiever my friend and everyone who knew you was so proud of you wish you had stayed at the crease a little longer. Will miss you always bhai.... Always. Today we lost a friend, a colleague & this loss is irreparable. I request my friends from the media not to sensationalise this, I request everyone not to share his last images. A boy who came to this city with dreams in his eyes and achieved so much, has left us forever. Let him rest in peace."

Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Anil Kapoor, Sushmita Sen, Malaika Arora, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rajkummar Rao and Diljit Dosanjh offered condolences on social media.
