For me, what works is that I have a 100 crore film behind me: Kangana Ranaut talks about sexism and why she won't face same problems as 'Veere Di Wedding'

Whether it’s Sholay and Deewar or Dostana and Gundey, Bollywood bromances have always been a successful formula. Producers have put these films on a massive canvas. The star power of two stars combined has always been a crowd-puller. But the scene is drastically different when it comes to a two-heroine project or a female-oriented one. Unlike two-hero projects that are now categorized under the ‘bromance’ genre, Bollywood hasn’t bothered to coin a term for such films.

Speaking about the kind of money that is pumped in two-hero projects, Sonam Kapoor, who was a part of a women-led film like Veere Di Wedding in 2018, had once said in an interview, “The kind of money they got to make Dishoom is way more than what Kareena and I were getting to make Veere Di Wedding. I hate to say it, but I do think that think Kareena and I have a wider audience or that we could open a film as big as them and we could do as good as them. It’s just because they are men. Veere Di Wedding is a commercial film. I find it really disgusting that this happens.”

Now, an entertainment website asked Kangana about the same, the actress did not agree with it and said, "For me, what works is that I have a 100 crore film behind me. Even if Manikarnika was co-directed by me, I think that makes a huge difference. You have already made the leap from small films to big films. I was initially very reluctant to helm that project but eventually, it went on to become a huge hit. That has added a lot of value and I see a lot of people are keen to invest in my film. Of course, it also depends on the crew you get. We have Vijayendra sir and another writer on board. Your script is everything. Other things don't matter much."

She further added, "At least I am in that place where I have a body of work in terms of writing whether it's for Queen or Simran. So people know my sensibilities. Plus, I'm a successful actor, so I don't think for me, it will be literally from the scratch. So it's not that bad for me."
