Throwback: When Mahesh Bhatt christened Ranbir Kapoor’s biopic ‘Ladies Man’ and didn’t want anyone to date Alia Bhatt

Mahesh Bhatt might be fond of daughter Alia Bhatt’s beau Ranbir Kapoor now but there was a time when he did not have very flattering views about the actor. When he appeared on Karan Johar’s chat show he had given some honest answers about Ranbir. Before Alia and Ranbir made their relationship official, Mahesh had suggested ‘Ladies Man’ as a possible title for Ranbir’s biopic on Koffee With Karan.

When Karan had quizzed Mahesh to name Ranbir’s biopic during his rapid-fire round, the latter said ‘Ladies Man’ while Emraan Hashmi who shared the couch with him had advised Ranbir to, ‘stop playing the ladies’ man stereotype’. Mahesh had even gone ahead and said jokingly that no one should think of dating Alia. He had quipped, “I will keep her locked.”

Mahesh’s barb towards Ranbir did not stop there, he even called the actor’s film Barfi as the most overrated film and went on to place Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Hrithik Roshan above Ranbir while naming them in order of acting ability. He also said that he walked out of Rockstar. It was not only Ranbir who was at Mahesh’s firing range. He had also called Sanjay Leela Bhansali an overrated filmmaker. Alia will be seen in Bhansali’s next project Gangubai Kathiawadi that is expected to go on floors in the next few days.

Ranbir and Alia are reportedly quarantining together and have been together for almost two years now and their fans are eagerly waiting for them to tie the knot soon.
