Gulabo Sitabo: Amitabh Bachchan calls Ayushmann Khurrana 'a talented actor', latter compliments Big B by calling him a 'living legend'

Ayushmann Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan are gearing up for the release of their first film together Gulabo Sitabo. Shoojit Sircar's directorial is all set to release on Amazon Prime on June 12. When the film was first announced in 2019, Ayushmann and Amitabh had both expressed their happiness of working with each other several times. While Ayushmann found it 'difficult to act in front of Big B', the veteran 'had a wonderful time working with his talented co-star'

On working with the cine icon, Ayushmann had said, "It’s like mixed feelings. I have butterflies in my stomach. I don’t know how will I feel when I face Mr Bachchan for the first time on screen together, and I and excited since Shoojit Sircar and Juhi Chaturvedi it’s a dream team coming together after Vicky Donor and Piku so really excited."

The actor had also talked about shooting with Big B and mentioned, "I had met him socially but on the sets, it was very different. He comes really prepared with everything. He knows your lines also. He’s an institution, he’s a living legend. Thankfully, he is that co-actor who’s very collaborative. So, the butterflies were gone when I met him on the set. It is not easy to act in front of him. You have to be on your toes as a co-actor."

Amitabh Bachchan had also talked about working with Ayushmann in the film and said, “Gulabo Sitabo is a slice-of-life dramedy that is a must-watch for families at home. I was excited about my role since the first time Shoojit showed me the character’s look. It took me almost 3 hours each day to get into character with its different look. I had a wonderful time working with my talented co-star Ayushmann Khurrana.” 

On his personal blog, Big B had once shared, “Stepping out into another set horizon .. a venture that screams of some diligent writing and some enthusiastic preparation. ”

Gulabo Sitabo refers to a legendary pair of puppet sisters and a part of Uttar Pradesh's folklore. The film is a takeoff on these two characters and will narrate the love-hate relationship between a tenant and his landlord. The film has been primarily shot in Lucknow.
