Despite Ekta Kapoor forgoing salary for a year, Balaji reportedly announces a 20 to 50 percent pay cut for three months

On April 3, 2020, Ekta Kapoor had announced that she is foregoing her one-year salary (Rs 2.5 crore) to ensure that her co-workers working at Balaji Motion Pictures, Balaji Telefilms and ALT Balaji do not take a hit during these pressing times of Coronavirus outbreak. But now, media reports suggest that her companies have announced a 20 to 50 percent pay reduction for employees for three months.

Despite her best intentions, it has been heard that the studio — which has ALT Balaji and Balaji Motion Pictures as subsidiaries — is having to implement a three-month pay cut for its employees.

A source revealed, "On Monday, the staff was apprised of the decision. Those with annual salaries of up to Rs 12 lakh will have to take a 20 percent pay cut while those in the R12 lakh to R36 lakh bracket are looking at a 25 percent pay reduction. A 30 percent pay cut is being implemented for those with annual pay packages between R36 lakh and R60 lakh, and the senior management will take only half their pay. The variable pay that is disbursed at the year-end is likely to be delayed as well."
