Living up to the title of a philanthropist, the 37-year-old actress and her husband Nick Jonas donated money for those affected by the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. Taking her contribution forward, Priyanka, today, on her Instagram account, announced that she will be financially helping out women who are 'rising above everything during the crisis situation'.
Priyanka, in association with a brand, told that she will be donating $100,000 to four women who are ‘going the distance’. The Barfi! star, in a video addressing people, said the world is currently experiencing a 'crazy time'. She further added that a campaign with the brand was about to kickstart in a few weeks but it didn't go as per the plan due to the current scenario. "We decided to help and bring hope to the people who need it at this time. I know we can’t solve this problem on our own, but even the smallest gestures make such a big difference, so donating 100,000 dollars in total to women who are rising above everything thrown their way, because when a woman puts her mind on something, she has the power to heal and change the world, So if there’s a woman who’s going the distance in these difficult times, whether she is a member of the service industry, large companies or small business owner or someone fighting on the frontlines, nominate her, we want to highlight her story and commemorate her," Priyanka said in the video.
Priyanka and Nick, yesterday, issued a statement that they have donated money to organisations helping those in need. "So many people around the world need our support more than ever. It was important for Nick and I to donate to organizations that are helping low income and homeless families, helping doctors and first responders, feeding children, and of course supporting the music & entertainment industry. They need your support too, and we would implore you to donate. No amount is too small, even if it's $1. Together we can make a difference," Priyanka wrote. In addition to this, the actress shared details of NGOs who will assist with the contribution.
