Renowned Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor found herself tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus after returning from London on March 9. The first in tinsel town to be diagnosed with COVID-19, Kanika found herself in grave trouble after she attended a party in presence of over 200 people before testing for the virus. Considering a case of negligence, the Uttar Pradesh government has given the matter in legal hands. Now, as the officials are locating those present at the party to request them to get tested and practice self-isolation, reports did the rounds that along with the plush bash, Kanika attended her maternal uncle's house-warming function in Kanpur too.
Kanika visited Kalpana Tower on March 13. District magistrate Brahma Deo Ram Tiwari, in a statement, told that on March 13, the party had 56 people marking their presence. "As many as 56 people had attended the ‘grah pravesh’ function hosted by Vipul Tandon on March 13," Tiwari told.
Chief Medical Officer Ashok Shukla, in his statement to media, told that after scrutiny and diagnosis, 11 of them have been tested negative and reports of 24 others are yet to come. "Eleven people of the family including Vipul Tandon, Radhika Tandon, Meena Tandon, Mukul Kumar Tandon, Nandini Tandon, Yash Tandon, Manvi Tandon, Khyati Tandon, Subhash Mehrotra, Ruchi Mehrotra, and Sonal Mehrotra have tested negative and the reports of 24 others are awaited," Shukla told.
Talking about the case, Kanika returned to Mumbai on March 9 and travelled to her hometown Lucknow on March 11. Soon, she attended a lavish party with politicians and others including the National Vice President of Bhartiya Janta Party, Vasundhara Raje and her BJP MP son Dushyant Singh. She is now undergoing treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi PGIMS.
