Drishyam Films' 'Tryst With Destiny' becomes the only Indian film to be a part of the Tribeca Film Festival 2020 in New York City

Just when Drishyam Films is gearing up for the release of its next - the highly anticipated Kaamyaab, the producers are ready to enthrall the audiences with another interesting project titled Tryst With Destiny. Set in contemporary India, the film follows three sets of characters from disparate backgrounds as they struggle for the control of their fates. 

An ambitious anthology drama, Tryst With Destiny is written and directed by Prashant Nair and stars an acclaimed cast including Ashish Vidyarthi, Suhasini Maniratnam, Viineet Kumar, Kani Kusruti, Jaideep Ahlawat and Palomi Ghosh among others. Coming in as an exciting update, the Indo-French co-production is all set to make its world premiere in the international narrative competition section at the Tribeca Film Festival 2020 in New York City. For the unversed, the Tribeca Film Festival founded by legendary Hollywood actor Robert De Niro is one of the most celebrated and prestigious film festivals of North America which showcases a diverse selection of independent films from across the world. Impressively, Tryst With Destiny is the only Indian film that is a part of the illustrious lineup at the film festival.

Talking about the same, producer Manish Mundra said in a statement, “We are so thrilled that Tryst With Destiny is having its world premiere at The Tribeca Film Festival. This week is full of great news for all of us at Drishyam Films with Kaamyaab's upcoming release, and now our next film Tryst with Destiny is embarking on what will hopefully be another great journey." Drishyam Films' biggest hit Newton had also made its North America premiere at Tribeca in 2017 and later went on to become India's official entry to the Oscars.

Director Prashant Nair also shared his excitement about the news and told, “We’re honored and thrilled to be premiering our film at Tribeca, home to so many artists that have inspired us along the way. Tryst With Destiny is a deeply personal film that came about as a reaction to the worrying times we live in, and I’m grateful to Drishyam Films and Backup Media for supporting it from the start.” This is Prashant's second film with Drishyam Films, after Umrika which won the Audience Award at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in 2015.

To celebrate the news, the makers have released an intriguing first look poster for the film. Slated for a Summer 2020 release, Tryst With Destiny is produced by Drishyam Films and Backup Media.
