Censor board cuts short Sara Ali Khan's and Kartik Aaryan's lovemaking scenes in 'Love Aaj Kal'; grants U/A certificate to Imtiaz Ali's film

Imtiaz Ali’s film Love Aaj Kal is one of the most awaited films this year. The film shows love stories of two different eras -— the first is set in the late 1980s–early nineties, and unfolds between Raghu and Leena. The other love story, set in present time, happens between Veer and Zoe. While Kartik plays Raghu and Veer, Sara has been cast as Zoe and Arushi Sharma plays Leena. From the trailer and songs to the sizzling chemistry between the lead pair, the film has piqued the audience interest to the T.

Now days before its release on February 14, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has decided to make some alterations to the film. Despite Love Aaj Kal being passed with a U/A certificate, the Censor Board has cut shot intimate scenes between Sara and Kartik. According to their official website, he kissing scene, in the very beginning of the film, has been reduced to a flash and the lovemaking sequence has also been modified. Even the visuals of cleavage that is shown after the lovemaking scene have been blurred.

Not just that, the makers have been asked to remove shots of Kartik and Sara undressing themselves. In terms of audio censoring, a sexually abusive word has been replaced with ‘ass’. The words ‘f**k’, ‘f*****g’ have also muted and ‘Haraamzaadon’ has been replaced with ‘Saale besharmo’.

The 2009 film of the same name starred Sara's father Saif Ali Khan alongside Deepika Padukone.
