Twitter showers its wrath on Saif Ali Khan after his 'no concept of India before the British' comment goes viral

Saif Ali Khan, with the release of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, has been garnering praises for his portrayal of Udaybhan Singh Rathod. Now, as the film is minting multi-crores at the box-office, the actor is gearing up for the release of his second project of the month-Jawaani Jaaneman. During the ongoing promotions of this Nitin Kakkar directorial, the 49-year-old actor made a statement stating that there wasn't a concept of India before the British gave one. While him refraining from voicing out his political opinions brought him under the limelight, this comment hasn't surely helped him much. Soon after the comment went viral, Saif had to face the wrath of Twitter.

Moments later, Twitter users lashed out at Saif and were in no mood to let me go. One of the users reprimanded the Tanhaji actor by sharing an ancient map of India while one sarcastically took a dig on him being a 'history buff'.

Taking the troll fest forward, users pointed out that Saif has named his son Taimur, who was a Turco-Mongol conqueror who invaded India in the 14th century.

Take a look at some more tweets here:

Speaking of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Saif played the role of Udaybhan Singh Rathod, a Rajput officer, who failed in the attempt to conquer Fort Kondhana from the Marathas. Ajay Devgn played the titular role. The film was directed by Om Raut and released on January 10, 2020.
