Ever since Alia Bhatt's next with Sanjay Leela Bhansali was announced, fans, as well as avid cinema watchers, couldn't keep calm. Titled Gangubai Kathiawadi, the film will present the actress in a never-seen-before avatar of an influential pimp. Now, after keeping all of us on our toes for interesting updates on the drama and unveiling the motion logo, Alia, on Wednesday, on her Instagram account, drew curtains from her look in the film.
In the posters shared, Alia's transformation remains to be the highlight. From a young girl to a dreadful Mafia Queen, the actress made our jaws drop. Speaking of the first poster, we can see a young Gangubai, dressed in a blue blouse and red skirt, strikes the right balance between vulnerable and intense with an innocent charm. In the second look, Gangubai has transformed into a dreaded and influential pimp. The poster being dominated by shades of black and white, the makers drop in a hint that she knows no mercy. With a popping bright red bindi and kohl-rimmed eyes, Alia is unbelievable stunning.
Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on a brothel madam from the red light area, Kamathipura in Mumbai. She is said to have changed the face of the region and is one of the most remembered women from the history of Mumbai. Gangubai is believed to have been pushed into prostitution at a very young age and became the most influential pimp, having served several renowned criminals from the city. The film is inspired by a chapter from the book Mafia Queens Of Mumbai.
Gangubai Kathiawadi will be directed by Sanjay, who will also co-produce the film with Jayantilal Gada of Pen India Ltd. It will release on September 11, 2020.
