Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh; actor expresses gratitude by thanking CM Yogi Adityanath

Ajay Devgn's and Saif Ali Khan's much-awaited Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, since the first day of its release, created a havoc at the box-office. With footfalls for the film increasing in theatres, the period drama has proven to be a blockbuster. Now, as the visual spectacle is minting crores of money per minute at the box-office, the Uttar Pradesh government and the state's Chief Minister-Yogi Adityanath, pronounced it as tax-free. On Tuesday, on his official Twitter account, the BJP minister announced the news and delighted fans of the actors present in the film.

Ajay, who plays the titular role in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, soon after it was declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh, thanked Yogi Adityanath on Twitter with a heartfelt note. "Thank you Shri Yogi Adityanathji for making #TanhajiTheUnsungWarrior Tax-Free in Uttar Pradesh. I would also be delighted Sir if you watched our film," Ajay wrote.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is based on the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670 which was fought between Tanaji Malusare, a commander of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Udaybhan. Saif plays Rajput officer, Udaybhan Rathod, who served under Mughal army chief Jai Singh while Kajol is seen as Ajay's onscreen wife Savitribai. The film is directed by Om Raut and produced by Ajay’s ADF and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series. It released on January 10, 2020, in 2D and 3D.
