JNU Violence: Kangana Ranaut believes 'acts by aggressive people shouldn't be made a national issue' while Kamal Haasan says 'dictatorship should change'

The nation was left shocked when a masked mob entered into the premise of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi on Sunday. Soon, several Bollywood celebrities have been extending their support to the students and professors were became the subject of violence. Joining the bandwagon were Kangana Ranaut and Kamal Haasan. Kangana, during a media interaction, told such crimes and gang wars are common in colleges in the North. She further added that actions by aggressive people shouldn't be made into a national issue.

"JNU students are being investigated on the attack and I saw in this issue that there are two types of people there, ABVP and JNU which are two types of unions. I want to tell you that it is very common to have gang wars in colleges. When I was in Chandigarh, I used to stay in a girls' hostel which also had a boy’s hostel. Minor crimes and even murder were very common there. Once a boy was about to get murdered inside our hostel gate but fortunately, he was saved by our warden. So, I would like to say that people on both sides are injured and such gangs are run by very aggressive people, should they be made a national issue at all? Take such people in police custody and give them four slaps to remove all their arrogance. Such goons are in every street, locality, and college, so do not make them a national issue, they are not worthy of any national issue," Kangana told.

Kamal, at an event in Tamil Nadu, condemned the violence and said the incident is worrisome. He added that the situation and dictatorship should change. "It's really worrying. If this happens to students, it's definitely panicking. It's also injustice and I can keep on saying more about it. This situation should change, the dictatorship should change," Kamal told.

Apart from Kangana and Kamal, celebrities like Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Anurag Kashyap, Swara Bhasker and many others expressed their concern. Deepika Padukone, on Tuesday, met the protesting students and members in Delhi at the Sabarmati T-Point to extend her support.
