Akshay Kumar casts his magic at the box-office, emerges as the highest-grossing actor of 2019


Akshay Kumar is a bona fide superstar and there ain't a denial about it. The actor, who is time and again known to be a hit machine at the box-office, proved yet it again in 2019. Akshay, not just appeared in one blockbuster film but starred in four of them at regular intervals throughout the year. The 52-year-old superstar started the last year of the decade with the tale of Battle of Saragarhi with the film titled Kesari. Soon, with Mission Mangal, he took us on a journey to Mars with the first project that celebrated the success of Mangalyaan which was led by four female space scientists. As Diwali approached, Akshay delighted us with the hilarious Housefull 4 that indeed went housefull for weeks together. With his fourth film of 2019 titled Good Newwz, he ended the decade on a joyous note.

Speaking of the box-office, Kesari minted Rs 151.88 crores, Mission Mangal collected Rs 200.16 crores and Housefull 4 accumulated Rs 205.60 crores at the box office. Good Newwz too is living up with its expectation and has already raked 117.10 crores in just 6 days. Akshay has managed to collect over Rs. 674.74 crores at the box office till now and ended the last year of the decade with a bang. While Good Newwz is running successfully in the cinemas, the numbers are expected to rise up. Well, Akshay has indeed proven to be the highest-grossing actor in 2019.

In 2020, Akshay will be seen in Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi which also stars Katrina Kaif. It is scheduled to release on March 27, 2020. Later, he will feature in Laxmmi Bomb directed by Raghava Lawrence. In this horror-comedy, Akshay will be donning the hat of a person who is possessed by a transgender ghost. Laxmmi Bomb will release on Eid 2020. In the second half of the year, the superstar will star in Prithviraj and Bachchan Pandey.
