Is Deepika Padukone the top contender to star with Rishi Kapoor in an upcoming film?

Deepika Padukone, with her grace, beauty and flawless acting skills, has become one of the most sought after actresses in Bollywood. Over her 12 year long career in films, the dimpled actress has proven to be a force to reckon and is on every leading filmmakers' wish list. Now, as she gears up for a socially relevant and emotionally heavy project Chhapaak, the 33-year-old star, it seems, is on a film signing spree. While her project with her ex-beau Ranbir Kapoor is awaiting a formal announcement, reports suggest that Deepika is being considered for a role opposite the Barfi! actor's father, Rishi Kapoor. 

As per a report in a leading daily, Deepika, who shared a cordial relationship with Rishi and his actress wife Neetu Kapoor while allegedly dating Ranbir. Dismissing rumours of bitterness, the powerhouses of talent, through Instagram posts shared that the bond is still intact. Moving away from the past, Deepika and Ranbir went on to star in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and now, they are said to be paired together in the yet to be announced Luv Ranjan directorial. Given the fact that Deepika's and Rishi's previous collaboration, that is, Love Aaj Kal was a hit with the audiences, the makers of this project are sure that the duo will cast their magic once more.

Workwise, Deepika will be seen as an acid attack survivor Malti in Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak which will release on January 10, 2020. The film also stars Vikrant Massey. Later, she will feature opposite her husband Ranveer in Kabir Khan's '83. The sports biopic is scheduled to hit the screens on April 10, 2020. On the other hand, Rishi is shooting for Hitesh Bhatia directorial Sharmaji Namkeen co-starring Juhi Chawla.
