Raaj Shaandilyaa made his directorial debut with Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl in September this year and now he has joined hands with Ronnie Screwvala to produce a comedy. Now according to a report in a leading daily, the two have approached Rajkummar Rao to play the lead role in the yet-untitled laugh riot, which will mark the directorial debut of Ishrat R Khan. For the unversed, Ishrat has earlier assisted Anees Bazmee on Deewangee, No Entry, Welcome and Welcome Back.
“When Ronnie, Raaj and Ishrat narrated the script to Rajkummar, he loved the comedy of errors. He has already given his nod to the project, the formalities will be completed by January,” the daily quoted a source close to the development as saying. Apparently, Raaj believes that Rajkummar fits the bill perfectly. “Raj fits the character like a glove and everyone is hopeful about getting him on board,” the source added.
The comedy is slated to go on floors by mid-2020 and is expected to release later next year. What's more? Rajkummar will reportedly also be a part of another film written by Raaj. “That one is a social comedy which revolves around male surrogacy," the source signed off.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Rajkummar will next be seen in Hansal Mehta’s Chhalaang, which also features Nushrat Bharucha, apart from Dinesh Vijan’s Roohi Afza, which stars Janhvi Kapoor.
