'Hera Pheri' duo Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan to join forces for a comedy film after 10 years

Akshay Kumar is a bona fide superstar and there ain't a denial. From showcasing his comic timing to acing some tough stunts, the actor has done it all in his illustrious career that began in 1991 with Saugandh. While Akshay has proven to a master of all genres, his comedy films hold a special place in the history of Bollywood. And Akshay's collaboration for those kinds of films with Priyadarshan have resulted in nothing but blockbusters. After having given masterpieces like Hera Pheri and Bhool Bhulaiyaa among others, the actor-director duo took a pretty long break and haven't done a film together in the last nine years. However, it seems Akshay and Priyadarshan are all set to end the sabbatical soon. Priyadarshan, during his appearance at the International Film Festival of India(IFFI) 2019, he told media in an interview that he is working on the script of the film, which will be a comedy project. The veteran filmmaker then added that the film will begin in September-October next year.

“It is a comedy. I’m currently writing it and will start working on it next year around September-October,” Priyadarshan told.

Priyadarshan, further talking about collaborating with Akshay post a long time, added that after Mohanlal, he feels the most comfortable with Akshay as there is a bond of mutual trust. Adding about Akshay's style of work, the filmmaker said the PadMan star has evolved a lot.

“I’ve done so many films with him. I have done 47 films with Mohanlal and after him, Akshay became the most comfortable person for me to work with because he completely trusts me. He doesn’t ask what I’m making. He doesn’t want to know what I’m doing. He asks me ‘Sir are you excited?’ and I say ‘yes’ and we just start working. That confidence is there so I have a responsibility towards him. He trusts me so much that I make sure it works. That trust works well for us. He always says he learns a lot while working with me. His body language has become better. He has evolved a lot. We did Khatta Meetha and after that he started playing a lot of these middle-class characters like Padman and others.”

Well, doesn't it sound exciting that the duo who gave us films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Hera Pheri are back together? With this development, it remains interesting to see whether the collaboration is Hera Pheri 3 or some other film.
