AMAs 2019: Taylor Swift gets emotional during her 'Artist of the Decade' win; Halsey takes subtle dig at Grammys snub in winning speech

The American Music Awards 2019 were presented on Sunday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and it was a night full of glamour and earful performances. This year’s AMAs was particularly great for Taylor Swift, who took six wins during the night. The 29-year-old singer was honored as Artist Of The Decade, which had been announced prior to the show. During her acceptance speech for the same, she said, "First of all, I want to say that getting to share the stage with Misty Copeland and Craig Hall and Camila Cabello and Halsey and all those amazing dancers tonight was absolutely, in so many ways, a dream come true, and so I just, that performance was even more fun than I hoped it would be."

Taylor further got emotional and thanked her fans for their undying devotion to loving her decade-long music. "And the fact that this is an award that celebrates a decade of hard work and of art and of fun and memories, all that matters to me is the memories that I have had with you guys, with you the fans, over the years. Guys, we've had fun, incredible, exhilarating, extraordinary times together, and may it continue. Thank you for being the reason why I am on this stage, from the very first day of my career until tonight. I love you with all of my heart. Thank you for everything. Thank you, AMAs. Thank you, just thank you, I'm so lucky to get to do this," she concluded.

On the other hand, singer Halsey won her first-ever American Music Award for her single Without Me. During her acceptance speech, she took a subtle dig at her Grammy 2020 snub at the Recording Academy and said, "I believed these awards. When I was a kid, I used to believe that this award was the ultimate validating and that I’d come up here and laugh and cry and my fans at home would rejoice because we accomplished this thing together.” She further added, "But the truth is I am older now and I’m also an artist and apparently I’m doing okay. But most of these awards really aren’t what they seem at all."
