Did you know children on the sets of 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' thought Sharad Kelkar is the real Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj?

The makers of Ajay Devgn's and Saif Ali Khan's magnum opus period drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, on Tuesday, after much wait, released the trailer of the film. And without saying much, the trailer, within a few hours, managed to create a positive stir. From Ajay's high-spirited Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare to Saif's menacing act as Udaybhan and Kajol's grace and dignity, the trailer was indeed powerful and impactful. However, amongst the grandeur and great performances by the trio, what caught the audience' attention was Sharad Kelkar's portrayal of the legendary and honourable Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Be it the mannerisms or physical attribute, the actor undoubtedly managed to bring Shivaji Maharaj alive onscreen in his full dignity. Talking about playing the character, Sharad, during Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior's trailer launch held in the city, narrated an incident. He said, on the first day of the shoot, two children present on the sets, looked up at him while he was dressed as Shivaji Maharaj and asked that whether he is the same person who has a statue outside the Mumbai International airport. Sharad, further added that playing such an important character is a lifetime opportunity for any actor.

"On the first day of the shoot, do chhote bacche the sets pe. Main Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ke get-up mein aaya. Aur fir unhone mujhe aise dekha aur ek cheez kahi, ‘kya aapka hi statue laga hu Mumbai airport ke bahar’. I was left stunned. Mujhe hi confidence nahi tha. It was solely Om Raut’s and Ajay Devgn’s vision aur mujhe yeh mauka mila. Yeh kisi bhi actor ke liye Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ka role karna is a lifetime opportunity," Sharad told during the trailer launch.
