Varun Dhawan's biopic on Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal titled 'Ekkees', to go on floors early next year

Varun Dhawan, in the last seven years in Bollywood, has established himself as a bankable and an audience favourite star. Be it showcasing his rugged side in thrillers to leaving behind an impact with his comic timing, the actor has done it all. With an array of interesting projects belonging to different genres already lined up in his kitty, Varun is all set to explore new territory with his Badlapur director Sriram Raghavan with the biopic of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. The film, which was announced on October 14, not just has the critics excited but sent the fans of the actor into a happy zone. While the name of the film is yet to be announced by the makers, trade sources inform that the Sriram directorial will be titled Ekkees, considering Arun was martyred at the age of 21.

As per a renowned trade analyst, the team behind the film has begun working on the pre-production and it is said to go on floors early next year. The first look and poster will be unveiled either in December or early January.

Speaking of the film, it is inspired by the story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who is celebrated for his contribution to the 1971 Indo-Pak War. Arun received the Param Vir Chakra posthumously for facing relentless attacks from Pakistan. The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner Maddock Films.
