Anushka Sharma, apart from being an actress par excellence, has managed to win hearts with the amount of support she lends to her cricketer husband Virat Kohli during his matches. From cheering for him in the stands to extending her love and prayers, she has done it all, making us go aww. However, this quality of hers and she accompanying Virat to International locations for matches raised eyebrows of some in the past and Anushka became a constant subject of criticism. And adding to the misery, former India wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer, a while ago claimed that BCCI selectors were serving her cups of tea during the ICC World Cup held in England in June this year. Anushka, who had maintained silence over this controversy and several others that tarnished her image, broke the ice and issued a statement on her Twitter account on Thursday.
The actress, in the note, said that she attended just one match during the World Cup and was seated not in the selector's box but in the family box. Further adding, she cleared that all the expenses that are required to travel with Virat for matches are taken care of by her and not the association. Furthermore, Anushka mentioned to not use her name to spread sensationalism. "The latest version of these ill intended lies is that I was being served tea by selectors at matches during the World Cup! I came to one game during the World Cup and sat in the family box and not the selectors box as reported but when has the truth mattered when it's about convenience! If you want to have a comment on the selection committee and their qualifications please do so as it's your opinion but don't drag my name into it to substantiate your claim or sensationalise your opinion. I refuse to allow anyone from using my name in such conversations," Anushka wrote.

Anushka in the past faced the wrath of trolls, where she was blamed for Team India's losses and Virat's poor performances, ever since they began dating. So much so, this series continued even after they tied the knot. Not just this, Anushka, who was last seen in Zero, became subject to severe backlash after a picture of her standing with the High Commission of India and members of the Indian cricket team went viral on social media platforms last year, during India's tour of England.
