‘I want an answer if I am guilty or not,’ says Sooraj Pancholi on ongoing court trail in Jiah Khan case

Sooraj Pancholi made his debut with Hero four years back, and since then the young lad has gone through several ups and downs in his personal and professional life. But now, the actor is back after four years with his next film Satellite ShankarNeedless to say, Sooraj can’t thank the makers enough for trusting him and giving him a role that he longed for.

However, today at the trailer launch of Satellite Shankar the actor got emotional and broke his silence in front of the media while talking about the most controversial phase of his life, his court trails and the emotional trauma he is going through.

For the unversed, actor Jiah Khan committed suicide in 2013 in her flat in Juhu, Mumbai, by hanging herself. She left a suicide note, in which she blamed Sooraj for ruining her life. Sooraj, who made his Bollywood debut in 2015 with the film Hero, was charged with abetment to suicide in January. The trial began on February 17 since then the trail is on.

With a chocked voice Sooraj said, “The struggle for me is not 4 years it's 7 years, I don’t want to hide this, everyone wants to know about my personal life, I was always very quiet about this, and I believed in the court I do believe in the court,  I don’t have 20 years or 14 years I have been accused in the case, an accused can’t do anything, anyone of you can be accused. there are a few points I want to put sir... If I am complainant I don’t have to go to court but the accused has to go to the court since I was 21 I have been going to the court and I will be turning 29 in a month."

Getting emotional he stated, "In the history of India I am only accused who has said mera trail chalao (keep my trail going on) (have gone to the high court and have told them to let my trail continue, you know what I am going through),  if they want justice they can come to the court and start the trail, every time there is a trail the complainants fly off to London as they have a British passport and the authorities over here can’t do anything, I want the trail to start, I want it to end, I want an answer, if I am guilty or not guilty. Kuch toh start karo, aap chale jate ho trail ke samay (start the trail, you run away when there is a hearing) everyone asks me what’s happening with the trail, my friends, my family, the media, every month twice or thrice I go to the court. I went through a CBI investigation at the age of 22, I have sat with them day and night if they said nothing is there, why can’t the court start my case, complainants need to be there and face the trail, unhone mere pe dala hai, (they have put it on me) it’s her duty to prove me guilty, mere duty nai hai mein innocent prove hoon (it’s not my duty to prove myself innocent) and that’s how it should, someone should take a stand, I am accused, I am asking for help, please understand.”

Sooraj at the event put forth his point and pleaded the media authorities to help him end the trail.

Satellite Shankar will release on 15 November 2019.
