Deepika Padukone expresses her desire for Chennai Express' sequel; Rohit Shetty, are you listening?

Deepika Padukone, over her tenure in Bollywood till date, has given us a glimpse into her impeccable acting prowess and versatility. The actress, be it a girl-next-door or a queen, has done it all and we all are left in awe of her, naturally. While we have seen her in almost all sorts of roles, the one character that made us laugh till we rolled on the floor was Meenamma from Chennai Express. The blockbuster Rohit Shetty directorial showcased Deepika's never-seen-before side and won the hearts of the masses without a doubt. Not just us, but it seems Meenamma and Chennai Express were a favourite with the actress too and we have proof. Deepika, during her appearance at a film festival-related event in the city on Sunday, told that she has been asking Rohit to come up with the sequel to Chennai Express, that co-starred Shah Rukh Khan or draft a concept regarding Menamma's spin-off film. Deepika, at the IIFA Awards 2019 that was held in Mumbai last month, received the Best Actor Female In The Last 20 Years for Chennai Express

"I have been asking Rohit Shetty to do something with Meenamma or a sequel of Chennai Express," Deepika told as she said the popular dialogue from the film that goes as, 'kaha se kharidi aisi bakwaas dictionary' in her typical accent from the film.

Chennai Express was directed by Rohit. It starred Shah Rukh and Deepika with Sathyaraj and Nikitin Dheer. The film released on August 8, 2013, and went on to enter the 400 crore club. The story revolved around Rahul, who sets onto a journey to immerse his grandfather's ashes in Rameswaram. However, on the train, he meets Menamma, with whom he eventually falls in love with and embarks on a roller-coaster ride.
