As we said it! Ekta Kapoor to collaborate with Disha Patani for the first time in her next female-centric film

PeepingMoon.com was the first to inform its readers about Ekta Kapoor teaming up with Disha Patani for a female-centric film. And now, proving us right, Ekta, in an interview with media, confirmed this collaboration. The Balaji Motion Pictures head honcho, while talking about the project spoke about finalising Disha as the lead and said owing to her massive popularity and connect with the youth, she couldn't think of any better actress than the Baaghi 2 star. The yet to be titled film is said to be a rom-com with Disha playing a wild yet innocent and crazy Punjabi girl.

"Disha has a strong connect with the youth and I couldn't think of anyone else who could portray the wild yet innocent, and crazy yet sensible character. To add to that, Disha's oomph takes it notches higher," Ekta told.

When asked about backing films, where the women takes the centre stage, Ekta said, "If we don't call a regular film 'male-centric', why do we put all films that have women at the center of them into one bracket? I would rather say that my next is a crackling comedy with Disha in the lead."

This film marks Disha's first film as the solo lead. It will be directed by Ashima Chibber, of Mere Dad Ki Maruti fame. The film will be written by Raaj Shaandilyaa, with whom Ekta gave the recent blockbuster Dream Girl starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha in the lead. Ekta will be bankrolling the film under her banner Balaji Motion Pictures. The remaining cast announcement is awaited.
