Shah Rukh Khan made his career out of playing an obsessed stalker: Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan, with the upcoming revenge drama Laal Kaptaan is all set to ignite the screens and the box-office with his intense performance as a Naga Sadhu. And as the film inches closer to its release, the actor has been keeping busy with back-to-back promotions. And during one such promotional interview with an entertainment portal for the film, Saif spoke about different genres of film in Bollywood and said the industry is obsessed with the romanticisation of male stalkers. He further added that this frenzy has become a genre in itself and joked that Shah Rukh Khan made a career out of portraying the role of a stalker in most of his initial films including Darr. Saif went on to say that Bollywood's fascination with copying Western films is the real reason for developing such characters.

“Male stalker is almost the genre for Indian cinema and somehow it's always been successful and Shah Rukh Khan made his career on it in the beginning. And I don't know, it's like a society thing, we have a tendency to give the audience what we feel they want and again, these characters must have trickled down from the West... they must have been, because we copy a lot,” Saif told during the interview.
