During the screening event, the actress, but naturally turned emotional and spoke about her character in the film at length. Priyanka plays the role of Aditi Chaudhary, mother of the late motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary, who breathed her last in 2015 owing to pulmonary fibrosis. The Bajirao Mastani actress, while informing the audience at the festival about her role, said the celluloid portrayal is a mirror reflection of the real-life person. She further added that the responsibility of the role shook her to the core as she delved deep into Aditi's soul.
"I have played real-life people in the past, but with Aditi Chaudhary everything you see in this film is verbatim from them. There is so much reality to their lives that the responsibility of portraying it shook me. I derived so much from Aditi – who she is, what she felt and everything she went through, what they as a family stood for. I delved into her soul, asked a million questions and stuck by her," Priyanka told at the festival.

She further said that the director of the film, Shonali losing her son can't be fathomed. Adding more, Priyanka exclaimed that reel Aditi is an amalgamation of real Aditi and Shonali. “I couldn’t fathom Shonali’s loss of her child, it is such an unnatural thing. So this Aditi on screen is an amalgamation of Aditi Chaudhary and Shonali Bose as people. To me, Shonali Bose is the star of the film," Priyanka added. For those caught unversed, Shonali's son Ishan passed away nine years ago, which eventually led to a failed marriage. In a recent interview, the director addressed this incident and said it inspired her to write The Sky Is Pink.
The Sky Is Pink is based on the late motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary, who breathed her last in 2015 after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, a respiratory disorder in which scars are formed in the lung tissues. Zaira Wasim plays the role of Aisha while Priyanka and Farhan are Aditi and Niren Chaudhary respectively. The film is bankrolled by Roy Kapur Film, in association with S K Global and Priyanka's production house Purple Pebble Pictures. It is scheduled to release on October 11, 2019.
