In an advertisement video for a leading toothpaste brand, Milind Soman and his wife Ankita Konwar talk about stereotypes and taboos attached to love, marriage and relationships. The couple who has a huge age gap of 26 years between them took everyone by surprise when they tied the knot last year. In the video, they talk about how love should be the crux and the societal norms and age difference should not matter. They even poke fun at each other’s age difference.
The video opens with Milind reading nasty comments from social media trolls commenting about his relationship with Ankita. One such comment is, “Ankita should call him Papaji”. To this, Milind jokingly informs everyone and says, “She does, sometimes.” On the other hand, Ankita beautifully explains, “If you are with somebody that probably the whole society is really really happy with but you are not happy, then what is the point?” Milind, in fact, goes on to say, “There is a big age difference, (26 years, Ankita chips in) So it is the difference between my age and my mother’s age.”
Milind and Ankita tied the knot on April 22, 2018, and received tremendous flak for the huge age difference between them, but that did not deter them and their love and relationship have stood the test of time.
