'We can’t continue with the tradition anymore': Randhir Kapoor talks about Ganesh Chaturthi festivities this year

The entire nation is gearing up for the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi on September 2. However, the Kapoor family, which celebrates the festival with much fervour and enthusiasm every year, will not follow their tradition on Monday. The reason behind it is the sale of the iconic RK Studio, which was previously owned by the family. For the unversed, the studio used to be the hosting ground for the celebrations and since the property isn't their's anymore, they won't be holding the Ganeshotsav.

Talking about it, Randhir Kapoor told a leading daily, "That was the last Ganesh Chaturthi celebration for us. RK Studios hi nahi raha... to kahan karenge? Papa (Raj Kapoor) started the tradition 70 years ago with a lot of love for the Trunk God, but now, we don’t have a place where we can hold the celebrations the way we did at RK Studios. We all love Bappa and have immense faith in him, but I guess, we can’t continue with the tradition anymore."

If that's the case, 2018's Ganesh Chaturthi was the last celebration hosted by the family together.

The RK Studio was established by Raj Kapoor in 1948 in Chembur. Around 6-7 months back, it was sold to Godrej Properties after a massive fire broke out in 2017 and it became difficult for Kapoors to manage it.
