Filmmakers Nitesh Tiwari of Dangal fame and Ravi Udyawar, who directed Mom, are set to helm a 3D version of the Ramayana. With an estimated budget of Rs 500 crore, this will be a live-action trilogy in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Ever since the news broke out, there have been rumours that Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone have been approached to be play Lord Rama and Sita in the ambitious film, to be backed by Allu Aravind, Namit Malhotra and Madhu Mantena.
Recently, Nitesh was asked about the same during an interview with an entertainment portal and he quipped, "You said 'rumours', right?" He further added, "I have not started thinking about the cast yet. First, we are trying to get it right on paper, with our execution, and with our thought process and everything. We are still trying to get there... Baaki baatein we'll start with later." Well, we cannot wait to know what happens on that front.
Meanwhile, Nitesh admitted in an interaction with a news agency that the project was a huge responsibility "because the Ramayana is not just a revered ancient text in Indian mythology but also an integral part of our culture and more relevant today" and added that "they are ensuring that whatever is said and shown has the stamp of authenticity".
Workwise, Hrithik's last release Super 30 has been appreciated by one and all while Deepika is looking forward to her films, Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak and Kabir Khan’s '83, which pairs him opposite husband Ranveer Singh.
