Nerkonda Paarvai, produced by Boney Kapoor, hit the screens today in Dubai. Tamil superstar Ajith plays the lead role in the film directed by H. Vinoth. Boney thanked the cast and crew during the film’s premiere in Singapore on Tuesday. He said the film was an ode to his wife Sridevi. “While working with Ajith in English Vinglish, Sridevi asked me to cast Ajith in a Tamil film for our home production,” Boney said. With Nerkonda Paarvai’s, the filmmaker felt that he had fulfilled Sridevi’s dream.
Boney said that Sridevi believed she owed it to the South. “She wanted to do something for the Tamil film industry and this is my ode to her,” said Boney in an interview. He added, “This is where Sri began her career and got her stardom. My foundation was laid in the south. We did the post-production of Hum Paanch in Chennai with many technicians from there working for us. Professionally, South has contributed to whatever standing I have. Personally, too, it has given me the joy of my life, Sridevi.”
Nerkonda Paarvai is an official remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s Pink. The film highlights the issue of sexual harassment towards women. It also stars Vidya Balan in a cameo. The film opened to positive response by the audience and critics.
