From Fugly to Kabir Singh, here's a look at birthday girl Kiara Advani’s unconventional journey in Bollywood

With the humungous success of her latest film Kabir Singh and an impressive slate of upcoming films; Kiara Advani has undoubtedly become the belle of Bollywood’s ball and is touted as the next big thing. However, the versatile actress’ quest to stardom has been one crazy ride. Many often assume that with her filmi connections she had it all easy, but the fact remains that despite knowing some of the bigwigs of the industry, Kiara’s success today is truly hard-earned and hers alone. The modest gal may not really underline her struggle, but Kiara had her set of challenges to deal with before she cemented her presence in the glitterati world.

Kiara broke into the Bollywood scene with Kabir Sadanand’s Fugly, which was produced by Akshay Kumar, in 2014. While the movie failed to make an impact at the Box-office, Kiara showed a spark and charmed the audience with her vivaciousness, but then again good movie offers didn’t pour in as expected until 2016. The phase was tough, but the amazing Advani girl was determined to live her dream and make her mark in Bollywood. And soon enough, Kiara’s persistence paid off and she bagged M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story.

Kiara’s portrayal of Sakshi in this screen adaptation of cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s life not only got her instant popularity amongst the masses but also got her labelled as the new talent to watch out for. The film also marked her entry into the coveted 100 crore club. Hereafter, there was no stopping – Kiara Advani.

The talented actress followed up the success of M.S. Dhoni, with Abbas Mustan’s Machine and broke the internet with her groovy moves in the revamped version of Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast in the film. In 2018, after wowing the audiences in B-town with her stellar acting chops, Kiara gobsmacked the audience in South with her Telugu debut – Bharat Ane Nenu opposite superstar Mahesh Babu.

However, it was Kiara’s unabashed performance in the anthology film Lust Stories last year that escalated her popularity to a new high and proved to be a turning point of her career. The gifted lass then began 2019 on a high-note with her special appearance in Kalank, where she received praises galore for her dance moves in the ‘First Class’ song. And now Kiara has whipped up a storm at the BO with her de-glam avatar in Kabir Singh. With this Hindi remake of the Telugu hit film Arjun Reddy, Kiara has entered the elite 200 crore club.

What’s truly interesting about Kiara’s journey so far, apart from the fact that she is one of the youngest actresses in B-town to have two 100 crore films and one 200 crore film to her credit, is that she has shown immense versatility in a short span of time by doing diverse roles. Be it Devi of Fugly, Sakshi of M.S: Dhoni, Megha of Lust Stories, and now Priti of Kabir Singh… with each character she played, Kiara has not only offered something new to her audience but has also upped her ante.

Now looking at her upcoming slate of movies, which include Good News, Shershaah, Laxmmi Bomb, Indoo Ki Jawani and Guilty, one thing is for sure there is no stopping this lass from claiming her crown in B-town now. As the actress celebrates her birthday today, we wish her loads of success always. Happy Birthday, Kiara!
