‘There is no element of surprise in this’, says Akshay Kumar on ‘Mission Mangal’ clashing at the box office with John Abraham’s ‘Batla House’

Akshay Kumar’s upcoming and highly anticipated film Mission Mangal is up for release on August 15. Like Eid is synonymous with Salman Khan, National Holidays comes under Akshay’s patronage. His last few films like Rustom, Toilet Ek Prem Katha and last year’s release Gold all opened in theaters on Independence Day. However, like last year this year too John Abraham’s film will clash with Akshay’s at the box office. Last year, Akshay’s Gold and John’s Satyameva Jayate locked horns and this year Mission Mangal and Batla House will clash.

Talking about the inevitable clash, Akshay at the trailer launch of Mission Mangal said that he is unperturbed by the competition and dismissed it as a normal event. He said, “In a year, more than 180 Hindi films release and then there are about 30 to 40 Hollywood films as well so there would be a lot of congestion. In the future, there will be more problems as maybe at that time four to five films may clash at the same time. There is no element of surprise in this and we should not blame anybody or blame each other and just go along with it.”

Directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal is based on the Mars Orbiter Mission and follows scientists at Indian Space Research Organization who made the feat possible. Besides Akshay, the film also stars Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Sharman Joshi, Sonakshi Sinha and Kirti Kulhari.

On the other hand, John’s Batla House is based on the real story of the controversial encounter of Indian Mujahideen terrorists eleven years ago in Delhi.
