Anil Kapoor quashes rumours of Abhinav Bindra biopic getting shelved, says 'great stories take time to be told'

Back in 2017, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor announced that he will be working on a biopic dedicated to the former World and Olympic shooting champion Abhinav Bindra and till now, there are no further developments surrounding the project that features him as the shooter and his father Anil Kapoor as his reel father Apjit Bindra. So much so that of late reports of the venture being shelved permanently made rounds across media. However, Anil, on Wednesday, rubbished all the reports and issued a clarification on his Twitter account that the film is being made and justified that great stories take time to be told.

Anil shared pictures with Abhinav and Apjit along with the clarification. " Great stories take time to be told! The world will see the inspirational life story of @Abhinav_Bindra on the big screen soon! So incredibly excited for this," Anil wrote.

Earlier this year, Harsh Varrdhan told a leading daily, "We are currently rewriting the script. Good things always take time to brew. We are quite some time away from having a screenplay, which makes us unanimously feel that the film can now be made." He also informed that Kannan Iyer of Ek Thi Daayan fame and  Abhay Khurana will be adapting the book on Bindra's life titled A Shot at History: My Obsessive Journey to Olympic Gold for the film.

"His story is different from that of any other Indian athlete. He has grown up wealthy, his struggles are different. Plus, shooting is a psychological sport. So, one can't feel for Bindra the way they do for, say, the Phogat sisters because his struggles are internal. Kannan and Abhay are in the process of writing a story that is honest to Abhinav and his book. We can't put a timestamp on this film," Harsh Varrdhan said during an interview with a leading daily.
