‘Salman Khan’s film Kick’s South title is 'Mental' but when I do a film the word gets banned,’ says Kangana Ranaut on ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’ title change

The trailer of Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao starrer Judgementall Hai Kya released today much to the excitement of the fans who were eagerly waiting for it. The film’s title was embroiled in a controversy with the Indian Psychiatric Society had complained that its erstwhile title Mental Hai Kya shows mental illness in a bad light. The film’s makers denied these allegations but ultimately had to succumb to the pressure and change the title. CBFC passed the film with only minor cuts and a U/A certificate as well.

Today, at the media interaction that followed the trailer launch, Kangana spoke about controversies surrounding the film's title. The actress said, “Salman Khan’s film Kick was supposed to be called Mental and that was its original Southern title but it did not irk anyone. But the point is when Kangana Ranaut is there in a film, people always have problem.” She further said, “Main kuch bhi karu toh bahut logo ko bahut sari problem hoti hai. Mental title south film main chalega, meri film hai toh ab yeh word ban ho gaya.”

She said that we outsiders find a way to move forward by trying to irk people in the least possible way. Judgementall Hai Kya is written by Kanika Dhillon. Talking about the film’s unusual storyline Kanika said, “I became very bored of being sane, so I wrote an insane story.”

Judgementall Hai Kya is directed by Prakash Kovelamudi and produced by Ekta Kapoor. It is slated to release on July 26.
