Fathers are the main and the first heroes of any child’s life. We tend to believe that they have superhuman strength and they can defeat and protect us from any evil. If a mother is a nurturer and primary caregiver, the father is the protector, guide and mentor. Today, when the world is celebrating Father’s Day 2019 by showering love and gratitude on their Dads, we have several doting fathers in Bollywood as well who are great role models for everyone out there.
These celebrity fathers have not only bowled up with their on-screen performance but have won our hearts as well by taking their daddy duties pretty seriously. They spend quality time with their kids and are doting Dads to their munchkins even though some of the so-called kids are no longer minors. Here are some of the most doting fathers of Bollywood who are the epitome of being ‘Daddy Cool’.
Salim Khan is the patriarch of the most popular ‘Khandaan’ of Bollywood and is the father to Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, Sohail Khan and Arpita Khan Sharma. Even though his eldest born is above 50 years-of-age he still commands the respect that is seldom seen. His children might be more popular but Salim Khan’s aura, charisma and sense of humour can pale all of them in comparison. The acclaimed screenwriter is one of the coolest Dads in Bollywood who does not fail to support as well as rebuke his children in public either.
The Shahenshah of Bollywood is another doting father who never fails to support his children-Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan. From sitting in the front row and making videos of his daughter’s first ramp walk to the launch of her book and label, Amitabh has been as thrilled as they come.
When Abhishek played the role of a Sikh in his last release Manmarziyaan, Big B even shared a heartfelt note on social media for him stating that his paternal grandmother (Teji Bachchan) must be very proud of him as he has touched upon their Sikh roots.
Dharmendra is Papa dearest to not one but four children who swear by his name. Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol might be parents themselves but they are still in awe of their veteran father and his charisma. Dharmendra on his part showers his children with love. Recently he was on cloud nine when Sunny won the Lok Sabha elections 2019 from Gurdaspur constituency and Esha gave birth to her second daughter Miraya.
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan is one doting father whose social media is flooded with pictures of his kids- Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan and AbRam Khan. The superstar actor never fails to bask in the glory of his children’s academic achievements. He not only captures the essence of fatherhood but also gives out parenting goals as well.
Akshay Kumar might have the daredevil macho Khiladi persona in films but is a complete softie when it comes to his children- Aarav Bhatia and Nitara Bhatia. From basking in the glory of his son earning his black belt in Kudo to painting or building blocks with his young daughter Akshay is one doting father. He is not afraid to play with ‘pinkish’ toys and give flying kites lessons to his daughter. This Khiladi Kumar does all this and much more with elan and panache.
Ajay might come across as the no-nonsense and dead serious actor in most of his films but he has a very normal outlook for his children whom he wants to keep away from the media glare. From supporting his daughter for being trolled unnecessarily on social media to ensuring and asking the paparazzi to keep away and give privacy to his children, Ajay is a very cool Dad indeed.
Abhishek Bachchan leads a very unique life and probably a very blessed one at that. Not only is he the son of India’s most popular actor (Amitabh Bachchan) he is also the husband of one of world’s most beautiful woman (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and the father of India’s most famous granddaughter Aaradhya Bachchan. He is often trolled for his failure to match his father’s and wife’s popularity and more often than not his daughter also gets tagged into it. However, the actor knows how to give it back to all the trolls and shut them up properly. Abhishek is a doting father to Aaradhya and never fails to spend time with ‘his girls’- Aishwarya and Aaradhya.
Ayushmann Khurrana has two children- a son Virajveer and a daughter named Varushka. The young actor literally became the king of the box office last year with back-to-back hits in Badhaai Ho and AndhaDhun. The actor who is well-known to select scripts with a different and hatke storyline and is not afraid to showcase taboo topics in films feels that his son will be proud of his film choices when he grows up. The actor also deserves applause for being a rock to his wife Tahira Kashyap Khurrana while she was undergoing chemotherapy for her Stage 1 breast cancer.
Tusshar Kapoor deserves a special clap and standing ovation for taking the road less travelled. He is a single father to son Laksshya Kapoor who was born through surrogacy. Tusshar took a break from Bollywood and professional commitments to raise his son and deserves a salute for embarking on the journey of fatherhood.
Karan Johar is another celebrity who resorted to surrogacy to embark on the joyful and eventful ride of fatherhood. His twins Yash Johar and Roohi Johar (named after his parents Yash Johar and Hiroo Johar) was also born through surrogacy.
Anil Kapoor is a proud Dad indeed as his children Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor and Harshvardha Kapoor have established themselves in Bollwyood. The actor has been a role model for his children and has always managed to keep a starkly clean image in the big bad world of showbiz.
Saif Ali Khan
Saif became a very young father and ahs three children-Sara Ali Khan, Ibrahim Ali Khan and Taimur Ali Khan. Sara and Ibrahim are his kids from his first wife Amrita Singh while Taimur is Kareena Kapoor’s adorable munchkin who has the entire nation wrapped around his little finger. Saif is probably the epitome of Daddy cool as we saw on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan in which he appeared with Sara. He is often spotted carrying Taimur on his shoulders in Mumbai as well as while vacationing abroad.
Hrithik Roshan has two son-Hrehaan and Hridhaan. Although Hrithik is divorced, he and his ex-wife Sussanne Khan are doing a great job of co-parenting their sons. From going on vacations together to sharing his son’s band performances on social media, Hrithik is one loving and caring father.
Riteish has two sons with his wife and actress Genelia Deshmukh nee D’Souza. His sons are named Riaan and Rahyl. The actor often shares adorable pictures of his sons on social media.
Shahid Kapoor is probably the most recent entrant in the list. The actor has a daughter Misha and a son Zain with wife Mira Rajput. The actor has claimed that his son is better looking than him and he can’t help fanboying him at every instance.
Here’s wishing all these Bollwyood Dads and all the fathers in the world a very Happy Father’s Day!
