‘Bharat’ is a Salman Khan film and nobody bothers if I am there or not: Sunil Grover

Actor-comedian Sunil Grover has been a part of Bollywood and TV for quite some time now but it was playing the role of Gutthi and Dr.Mashoor Gulati in The Kapil Sharma Show that brought him widespread acclaim and recognition. A protégé of acclaimed satirist Jaspal Bhatti, Sunil will once again be seen in on the big screen in Salman Khan’s Bharat. Although he has shared screen space with Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, Bharat is probably his most lengthy film role. In a recent interview with a leading daily, Sunil spoke about his experience of working with Salman and why nobody bothers whether he is in Bharat or not.

Talking about Bharat being the biggest film of his career, Sunil said, “I was lucky to get the offer, considering I have never been part of big commercial set-ups. This was an opportunity to experience the larger-than-life cinema that Salman Khan usually brings on screen. Combined with Ali Abbas Zafar, it adds a different commercial value to a film. Ali is a great filmmaker and displays aesthetics in all his films. I am fortunate to be working with them. Frankly, it is a Salman Khan film and nobody bothers if Sunil Grover is a part of it or not. People will throng theatres to watch him, but it excites me to be just part of this world and exploring genres.”

Explaining his stance, Sunil further said, “Salman is a huge star. Whether Bharat is released with or without me, it wouldn't make a difference. If not me, somebody else would have done the role. I have put in my best for the film. I want to stay humble and just enjoy the moment. It was a well-organized set-up. I learnt a lot from Salman sir and Ali. We often engaged in friendly banters because the set felt friendly and much like home. I'd look forward to work every morning.”

Besides, Salman and Sunil, Bharat also stars Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Tabu, Aasif Sheikh, Jackie Shroff, Sonali Kulkarni and Nora Fatehi. The film is the remake of South Korean film Ode To My Father and is all set to release tomorrow on June 5.
