I’ve started to feel that it’s very silly of me to get so excited for birthday parties: Karan Johar on his 47th birthday

Bollywood's and audience' favourite director-producer Karan Johar turned 47 on May 25. Currently, in New York City, Karan is all set to bring in his birthday with close family and friends. On this occasion, while giving an interview to a leading daily, Karan spoke about how he used to enjoy and be excited to celebrate his birthday but in the last couple of years, he began believing being excited birthday parties is 'very silly'. He also said it is time for him to be excited about his children's party and admitted that he can't be 'millennial' about bashes now.

"I used to get excited and be much more of a birthday person earlier. I’d be all about celebrating it and having parties etc. But for the last couple of years, I’ve started to feel that it’s very silly of me to get so excited (laughs). Now, I should be more kicked about my children’s birthdays and not mine. Yes, it’s a great day to feel the sense of love from your loved ones but I can’t be millennial about my birthdays anymore. Now, I have to start directing those energies towards my kids," Karan quipped.

Coming to his birthday, Karan revealed his plans to the daily and said that he is on a few days break and will resume preparations for his upcoming multicast period film Takht and some lined up projects at Dharma Productions after a five-day getaway. "I’ve decided to give myself a five-day break but I will jump right back into prep work for Takht and all the other great things we are doing at Dharma. I’ve headed out for a few days, and I’m very excited to be here, just to walk the streets of the city that I really love. You can say that I’m kind of replenishing myself," Karan told.

Karan further added that the break is short as his children Roohi and Yash haven't accompanied him and he needs to get back to them soon. "I will be back in five days as I can’t go for very long because of my babies," Karan quoted.

Previously, his film Kalank failed to match up to the expectations of the audience while Kesari with Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra managed to win hearts. Soon, Karan will be producing the film Good News followed by Takht and then Brahmastra in 2020.
