Anil Kapoor goes grey, to play an 'extremely quirky and mad' character in Mohit Suri's Malang

Anil Kapoor played a conventional role in comic caper Total Dhamaal and impressed everyone with his nuanced act in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. However, his upcoming film, Mohit Suri's romantic thriller Malang, will see him playing a character with shades of grey. Claiming Anil's character to be "extremely quirky", a trade source told a leading daily, "Malang showcases the point of view of four people - among them, Anil being one - about an occurring that has taken place over a night. All the characters are grey. Anil's role is extremely quirky and mad. One can't define what he plays, because his character's [personality] keeps changing. He has a dark humour with heroic shades. He is the oddball in the group; doesn't conform to society and does things on his own. It's a character off Quentin Tarantino's films." The source added that the look of his character is yet to be decided upon.

When Anil was questioned about his role in the film, he quipped that his "black and white" role, which is different in what he would portray in Aneez Bazmee's Pagalpanti. "I start filming on June 8. We have a good team and director in Mohit [Suri]. It is a very well-written script, and the music is terrific," he said, thereby stating that he is excited to share screen space with young actors like Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani and Kunal Kemmu, in the film.
