Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas surprised everyone when they tied the knot in an impromptu wedding at Las Vegas on May 1 this year. The engaged couple were supposed to have a summer wedding but eluded everyone by getting hitched in a jiffy. When everyone was busy with the Billboard Music Awards, Sophie and Joe got married in an intimate ceremony with only close friends and family in attendance. DJ Diplo first broke the news of their marriage and had posted a video from the wedding as well that included Joe’s brother Nick Jonas and his wife Priyanka Chopra.
Priyanka who had confirmed that there is going to be a second elaborate ceremony opened up recently on her role in the surprise wedding. The actress told a leading entertainment magazine that she had a dual role to play during the wedding. She said, “I was a bridesmaid and a flower girl. Double duty." She also applauded her brother-in-law and his new bride and said that only they could have pulled something like this.
She further added, “All I say is it's such a Joe and Sophie thing to do. I mean, trust them to pull something like this off. They're so carefree, so fun, and this is so representative of who they are, you know? It was just so special to be there.” Priyanka also spoke about the loving equation that she shares with her ‘J Sisters’ and said, “We never end up spending as much time together because we are never in the same place together. All three of us have such busy lives. Sophie travels so much. I'm traveling so much. Danielle has the girls, and then for her to come out is so hard. But when we do, we don't need each other’s time. We're always giggling and joking and hanging out and it's just so great to have my family extend into just amazing good people. I love that.”
Joe’s and Sophie’s marriage ceremony was officiated by an Elvis Presley-impersonating officiator. Priyanka could be seen sitting right next to the couple with Kevin Jonas’ wife Danielle Jonas. The video of the Christian ceremony showed Sophie looking for her bridal bouquet which Nick hands her pronto.
