Last month we had reported that Sunny Deol will be contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections from Gurdaspur seat in Punjab on Bharatiya Janta Party’s ticket. Today, the actor formally joined the national party and was welcomed to the party in the presence of Union Ministers like Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goel. The actor is the latest entrant in the political arena which has seen several actors joining the fray in the wake of the elections.

After joining the BJP, Sunny said, “The way my Papa worked with and supported Atal ji, I am here today to work with and support Modi ji. My work will do the talking.” Sunny is speculated to contest from Gurdaspur seat that was previously held by late actor Vinod Khanna. Sunny is not the first entrant in politics from his family. His father Dharmendra had also contested elections on a BJP ticket. Hema Malini who is also a part of BJP is contesting elections from Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh.
