Prateik Babbar to play antagonist in Rajinikanth’s Darbar; It’s an opportunity of a lifetime, he says

Prateik Babbar has been cast as the antagonist in Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Darbar and is ecstatic about it, a leading daily reports. Confirming the news to the daily, Prateik said that he dreamt of working with the Tamil superstar ever since and cannot wait to begin filming on Sunday.

“It has been my aspiration to share screen space with a legend like Rajinikanth sir. I can’t wait to meet him and observe him on set. I have been appreciated for characters with grey shades and I am investing my 200 per cent in this role because it’s an opportunity of a lifetime,” Prateik told the daily.

Prateik has also played the antagonist in Tiger Shroff’s 2018 film Baaghi 2 and impressed Darbar director AR Murugadoss with his role as per sources. In Darbar, Prateik will also feature in important scenes with Rajinikanth.

“Murugadoss was impressed by Prateik in Baaghi 2 and decided to cast him. He plays the antagonist’s son and will feature in important scenes with Rajini. After Mumbai, the team heads to Tamil Nadu for the remaining portions,” a source was quoted as saying by the daily.

Darbar marks Rajinikanth’s return to playing a police officer after 25 years. Rajinikanth was last seen playing a police officer on screen in the 1992 Tamil film Pandian. His other police officer role includes Alex Pandian from Moondru Mugam, which released in 1982.

                                            

Nayanthara will star as the leading lady in Darbar, scheduled to release on Pongal 2020.
